Briarwood Butchers from Street are offering reduced prices on fillet beef steaks and pork tenderloins. I think I will go for the latter and look up a recipe for a tasty stuffing with which to complete the dish.
Winter Stew Pot Meat Pack with FREE VEG
Keep the cold out and enjoy some hot stews. . This meat pack contains:-
500g of diced stewing steak, 500g of diced lamb, 1kg of mince beef, 1 kg of diced pork.
and a bag of free root vegetables for the stew. This is likely to include potatoes, swede, carrots, parsnips and onions. RW
Watmuff & Beckett
No, not a firm of solicitors. These two gentlemen are preparers and purveyors of soups. I have tried their wares and they are good. Start with the carrot, sweet potato and ginger. A lovely warming soup. Most of the flavour will tell you it was a carrot soup, but the sweet potato adds a sweet smoothness. The ginger is very much in the background and provides a spicy warmth in an unobtrusive way. RW
Cheddar Selection
There are still small scale cheddar cheese makers in Somerset and the Gould Family at Pennard near Glastonbury are one. Try their three strengths of cheddar and smoked one as well, the latter is not charged for!
